Why are hormones important?

Hormones are responsible for transporting important information to all cells in the body. Certain hormones affect certain target cells, through receptors, relaying critical information specific to that cell's function. All hormones are created by different endocrine glands and travel through the bloodstream to different tissues and organs. Each hormone has its own goal, carrying a critical message to their target cells in these different tissues and organs.

The body's hormones are responsible for regulating and balancing almost every major bodily function. Hormones impact your growth and development, control your mood, determine how you deal with stress, influence how the body digests food, and so much more!

How do I know if my hormone levels need to be adjusted?

There are many symptoms that a person may experience that can be caused by hormone imbalances. These symptoms include:

  • fatigue

  • brain fog and poor memory

  • unexplained weight gain and the inability to lose weight

  • low libido

  • trouble sleeping

  • irregular menstrual cycles

  • unexplained weight loss

  • erectile dysfunction

  • etc...

The most accurate way to regulate if your hormone levels are affecting your health is to schedule a free hormone screening so that you can talk about your symptoms with one of our medical staff. Many symptoms of a hormonal imbalance can be misleading, we are here to help you figure out if those symptoms are due to hormone imbalances so you can get to the underlying cause of your medical concerns. It's difficult to rely solely on a patient's symptoms to determine which specific hormone is causing your symptoms so having your blood work done can help narrow down which hormone needs adjusted. If you're struggling with any symptoms of a possible hormone imbalance, you may want to get your blood work done and speak to one of our medical staff about the symptoms you are experiencing so we can get started on a treatment plan to help you feel better.
